Analysis of peer-to-peer lending in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou peer-to-peer půjček v České republice. Pozornost je věnována historickému vývoji peer-to-peer úvěrování ve světě a současné situaci na českém trhu. Dále se práce zabývá kreditní analýzou fyzických osob a vlivem jednotlivých proměnných, které vstupují do ratingu žadatelů. Práce je složena ze tří hlavních částí. Teoretická část definuje a charakterizuje základní pojmy, především peer-to-peer úvěr a jeho historický vývoj. Také vysvětluje úlohu peer-to-peer platforem, jejich výnosy a právní regulace na ně dopadající. Jsou zde popsány základy řízení úvěrového rizika. V praktické části je analyzován úvěrový trh v České republice a je zde porovnání hlavních poskytovatelů spotřebitelských úvěrů v bankovním, nebankovním a peer-to-peer sektoru. Hlavní část bakalářské práce je případová studie zaměřená na analýzu dat nejvýznamnější české peer-to-peer platformy Zonky z hlediska delikvence v kombinaci se vstupujícími proměnnými, které dokládá žadatel o úvěr. Součástí studie je i analýza vlastního textu žadatele, na kterou by se v budoucnu měl dávat důraz při posuzování ratingu u poskytovatelů, neboť se ukázalo, že uvedení toxického příběhu či neuvedení vůbec žádného vlastního textu při žádosti má vypovídající schopnost.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of peer-to-peer loans in the Czech Republic. The attention is paid to the historical development of peer-to-peer lending in the world and to the current situation on the Czech market. Further, the thesis deals with the credit analysis of individuals and the influence of individual variables that enter the rating of the applicants. The work is composed of three main parts. The theoretical part defines and characterizes the basic concepts, especially peer-to-peer credit and its historical development. It also explains the role of peer-to-peer platforms, their revenue, and the regulatory impact on them. There are the basics of credit risk management. The practical part analyzes the credit market in the Czech Republic and compares the main providers of consumer credit in the banking, non-banking and peer-to-peer sectors. The main part of the bachelor thesis is a case study focused on analyzing the data of the most significant Czech peer-to-peer platform Zonky in terms of delinquency in combination with the input variables that the applicant for credit demonstrates. Another part of the study is an analysis of the applicant's own text, which should be emphasized in the future when assessing the rating of the providers, as it has been shown that putting a toxic story or not having any of its own text in the application has a telling ability.
