Developement of Currency in Lithuania 1918-1940/45

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem měnových poměrů v Litvě v letech 1918-1940. První část se zabývá vývojem politickým a hospodářským v souvislostech dění Evropy. Druhá část se věnuje platidlům, která prošla peněžním oběhem ve sledovaném období, a problematice padělání peněz a zakončena je popisem událostí vedoucích k likvidaci národní měny. Poslední část se zabývá bankovním sektorem. Je zde popsána činnost centrální banky, zejména v oblasti péče o stabilitu měny, a činnost dalších bankovních institucí.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis discusses the development of currency in Lithuania between 1918 and 1940. The first section describes political and economic development in context of the events taking place in Europe at that time. The second section deals with currency that was in circulation during the given period and the issue of forgery and concludes with a description of the events that led to the termination of the national currency. The last section concerns the bank sector. It describes operation of the central bank; especially the domain that tends to stability of the currency, as well as operation of other banking institutions.
