The expected profile of a graduate of personnel management in public and private sectors

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the expectations of the employers considering the profile of a graduate of personnel management in public and private sectors. The goal of the thesis is to discover what the expectations of employers in both sectors are and how these expectations differ from one another. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the author defines the problem and brings us into the context by explaining the basic terms, such as personnel management, competencies of human resource professionals, public and private sectors and profile of a graduate. In this part, the reader also learns about the current situation of graduates on the labour market, about the job and competencies of a human resource professional and also he is going to understand what the differences of the personnel work in public and private sectors are. In the end of the theoretical part, the author creates the competence- based models of human resource professionals in public and private sectors on the base of this knowledge. The methodological part introduces the chosen research strategy, technique of data collection, researched unit, the process of data collection and possible methodological limits. In the empirical part, basic surveys are analyzed and interpreted on the basis of realized interviews, thus the author deals with what positions and roles of the graduates in the organizations are assigned, what the expected qualification, knowledge, skills and personal qualities are. In the conclusion, the author sums up the results of the research and formulates recommendations.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá očakávaniami zamestnávateľov vo verejnom a súkromnom sektore vzhľadom k profilu absolventa personálneho managementu. Cieľom práce je zistiť, aké sú očakávania zamestnávateľov v oboch sektoroch a v čom sa líšia. V teoretickej časti autorka definuje problém a uvádza nás do kontextu prostredníctvom vysvetlenia základných pojmov ako personálny management, kompetencie personalistov, verejný a súkromný sektor a profil absolventa. V tejto časti sa tak čitateľ dozvedá o súčasnej situácii absolventov na trhu práce, o práci a kompetenciách personalistu, a taktiež pochopí, v čom sa líši personálna práca vo verejnom a súkromnom sektore. V závere teoretickej časti autorka na základe týchto poznatkov vytvára modely kompetencií personalistov vo verejnom a súkromnom sektore. V metodickej časti popisuje metódu a stratégiu výskumu, techniku zberu dát, výskumnú jednotku, priebeh získavania dát a možné metodologické obmedzenia. V empirickej časti na základe uskutočnených rozhovorov analyzuje a interpretuje základné zistenia, zaoberá sa teda tým, aké pozície a role sú absolventom v organizáciách prideľované, aká je požadovaná kvalifikácia, znalosti, dovednosti či osobnostné predpoklady. V závere autorka zhrnuje výsledky výskumu a formuluje doporučenia.
