Abstract:

Disertační práce analyzuje kontextualizované exemplum v období 2. poloviny 14. století v naší provenienci v tendenční literatuře na typu exempla u Tomáše ze Štítného. Za pomoci strukturní analýzy dominanty je zkoumáno exemplum jako textová jednotka vyznačující se určitými konstatními vlastnostmi: vložeností, oddělitelností a smyslem založeným na analogii, ve snaze začlenit exemplum do literárního systému. Výzkum proběhl na základě excerpce exempel z reprezentativních děl štítenské tvorby. Dominantou exempla je funkce, která je chápána jako využití k určitému účelu, východiskem je fakt, že funkce zpětně působí na ostatní literární kategorie. Interdisciplinární charakter exempla se odráží ve vymezení jednotlivých funkcí. Nejprve proběhla analýza elementů, na něž jednotlivé funkce působí, tedy kontextu, který je ovlivněn funkcí poznávací, obsahu, kterým je dána funkce náboženská, a formy, kterou je dána funkce literární. Na základě vyhodnocení byla sestavena funkční hierarchie exempla u autora: dominantní funkcí exempla byla shledána funkce poznávací; funkce náboženská a literární jako funkce subdominantní. Dále proběhl výzkum exempel jako složky podřazené k složkám nadřazeným, jednotlivým dílům a žánrům štítenské tvorby, přičemž žánry byly pojaty jako otevřené systémy, které mohou být popsány podle formálních a funkčních znaků. Funkční hierarchie exempla koresponduje s funkční hierarchií žánru: Užitkové žánry s dominantní funkcí poznávací, tedy žánry kázání, traktátu, vidění, legendy, obsahují exemplum rovněž s dominantní funkcí poznávací, zatímco u uměleckého žánru románu se vyskytuje exemplum s dominantní funkcí literární; dochází k přeskupení funkční hierarchie. U Štítného se projevuje kontinuita antického rétorického exempla. Přílohu tvoří soubor šesti set exempel Tomáše ze Štítného, vypsaných z edic včetně kontextu, který je tvořen argumentačním rámcem.

Abstract:

This doctoral thesis analyses a contextualized exemplum (pl. exempla) during the 2nd half of the 14th century in our provenience, in the tendentious literature on the type of exemplum used by Tomáš ze Štítného (Thomas of Štítné). With the help of structural analysis of the dominant, the exemplum is examined as a text unit characterized by certain qualities: the insertion, the severability and the purpose based on analogy, in an effort to integrate exemplum into the literary system. The research was based on the excerption of the exemplum from representative works, attributed to Tomáš ze Štítného. The main feature of the exemplum is function, meant as the use for a specific purpose; the starting point is the fact that the function influences the other categories. The interdisciplinary disposition of the exemplum is reflected in the definition of particular functions. At first, the analysis of elements, which are influenced by the particular functions, was completed: we examined the context which is influenced by the cognitive function; the content by the religious function, and the form by the literary function. Based on the evaluation, the functional hierarchy of the exemplum of the discussed author has been put together: as the dominant of the exemplum was found the cognitive function; religious and literary functions are determined as the subdominant function. Next, the research of the exemplum as the subordinate component to the superior components, to the literary genres, and to works of Tomáš ze Štítného was accomplished. The genres are seen as open systems which can be described by formal and functional attributes. The functional hierarchy of the exemplum corresponds to the functional hierarchy of the literary genre: the cognitive function is dominant in utility genres (sermon, tractate, vision and legend); whereas in the genre of the novel, the exemplum with the dominant literary function is detectable. There comes about the reorganizing of the functional hierarchy. In the literary work of Tomáš ze Štítného, the continuity of ancient rhetorical exemplum is recognizable. The appendix includes a collection of six hundred exempla found in the work of Tomáš ze Štítného, excerpted from editions, including a context which consists of argumentative framework.
