Abstract:

Polský dějepisec Jan Długosz stejně jako kostnický měšťan Ulrich Richental chápali pojem „Russia“ v jeho geografickém významu a oba jej používali pro označení ruských oblastí Polského království a Litevského velkoknížectví. Mnoho záznamů polského autora dosvědčuje litevsko-ruskou a litevsko-ruténskou bipartitu v rámci Velkoknížectví litevského a vzájemné animozity podmíněné konfesními a historickými důvody. Jan Długosz vnímá a označuje pravoslaví jako „ruténský“ nebo „řecký obřad“, ale zatímco Rutény nazývá také jako „schizmatiky“ a jejich vyznání jako „sektu“, v případě Řeků píše o „východní církvi“. Ulrich Richental byl oproti Długoszovi pravoslavím zaujat, z vlastního zájmu navštěvoval pravoslavné mše konané litevskou delegací ke kostnickému koncilu a zachoval o tom dlouhou zprávu, v níž si všímal zejména těch nejodlišnějších liturgických úkonů ve srovnání s katolickou liturgií.

Abstract:

The Polish chronicler Jan Długosz as well as the citizen of Constance Ulrich Richental understood the term “Russia” in its geographical sense and both used it chiefly to name the Rus’ian territories of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Many accounts of the Polish author prove the Lithuanian-Rus’ian and the Lithuanian-Ruthenian bipartite within the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the mutual animosity conditioned by the confessional and historical grounds. Jan Długosz perceives and terms the Orthodoxy as the “Ruthenian” or “Greek rite”, but while he calls the Ruthenians also the “schismatics” and their confession the “sect”, in case of the Greeks he writes about the “Eastern Church”. Ulrich Richental was, in contrast to Długosz, interested in Orthodoxy, he visited out of his own interest the Orthodox Masses done by the Lithuanian delegation to the Council of Constance and preserved a long account about it, in which he took note especially of the most different liturgical acts in comparison with the Catholic Liturgy.
