Evolution of branches of the Morava river between villages Rohatec and Týnec

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rekonstrukcí vývoje ramen řeky Moravy mezi Rohatcem a Týncem. Ve středu zájmu pak stojí lokalita Velkomoravského hradiska v Mikulčicích. Řešené území zahrnuje českou (pravostrannou) i slovenskou (levostrannou) část nivy. Analýzou starých kartografických děl vznikla sekvence map začínající od roku 1751 po současnost, avšak celý výzkum sahá až k roku 1550. Kromě historických mapových podkladů byly využity ortofotomapy a letecké měřické snímky z minulého století. Doplňujícím zdrojem dat byl i digitální model reliéfu čtvrté generace, díky němuž bylo možné identifikovat mnohá stará ramena. Výsledkem práce je série map georeferencovaných v souřadném systému S-JTSK Křovák, které je možné v digitálním prostředí pokládat na sebe. Vytvořené mapy zachycují vývoj hlavního ramene Moravy i vedlejších ramen tekoucích v přiléhající nivě. V řešeném území je možné pozorovat jak přirozený vývoj říčních ramen, tak i trend říčních regulací, zahrnující zkrácení toku napřímením koryta Moravy. Sledovány byly i změny charakteru průtočnosti vedlejších ramen. V mapách byla rozlišena ramena protékající, občasně protékající či zanikající ramena, suchá ramena a ramena ovlivněná zásahem člověka. Zaznamenány byly i podmáčené sníženiny indikující přítomnost starých ramen a vodní nádrže. Důležitou součásti výzkumu byla i analýza historické regionální literatury, která mnohdy poskytuje informace o vývoji říční sítě, plánech regulace vodních toků či povodňových situací. Součástí práce byl i výkop 3 ověřovacích půdních sond, které byly lokalizovány v místě starých ramen v různém stádiu zazemnění. Půdní vzorky byly podrobeny zrnitostní analýze, jenž měla odhalit přítomnost typické výplně bývalých ramen. Celá práce byla završena terénním výzkumem.

Abstract:

This thesis researchs the reconstruction of distributaries of the river Morava, between villages Rohatec and Týnec, with main focus on the site Velkomoravská hradiska in Mikulčice. The area also includes both the czech (righ-handed) and the slovak (left-handed) part of the floodplain. A sequence of maps (ranging from years 1751 until now) was created by an analysis of old cartographical writings, however the whole research dates up to 1550. Ortofotomaps and aerial images were also used, along with the historical sources. Another source of data was a digital relief of fourth generation, due to which it was possible to identify various old distributaries. The result of the thesis is series of maps (which you can digitally stack), georeferenced in the SJTSK Krovak coordinate system. These maps show the development of both the main branches of the river Morava and side branches in adjacent floodplain. It’s possible to observe a natural development of branches in the researched area, along with trend of river engineering, including the straightening of the channel of the river Morava. Changes in the character of flow rate were also studied. Flowing distributaries, occasionally-flowing distributaries, dry distributaries and distributaries influenced by human activity were all differentiated in the maps, as well as waterlogged depressions which indicated the presence of old distributaries and water reservoir. An analysis of historical regional literature was also a part of the research, which often offers information about the development of the river network, plans on the regulation of watercourses or flood situations. Part of the thesis was also the dig of 3 verification soil probes, which were localized at the site of old distributaries in various stages of landslide. Soil samples were analyzed using grain size analysis, which should have detected the presence of the typical infill. The whole thesis was completed with a field research.
