The political system of the Second Republic and the Czech fascists

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá politickým systémem druhé republiky a českými fašisty. V úvodní kapitole je popsán vznik Československa a působení prvních fašistických organizací na českém území. Následně je vylíčen politický vývoj ve druhé polovině třicátých let, který vedl ke vzniku druhé republiky. Na podzim 1938 pak po debatách čelních politiků došlo k redukci politického života na dva hlavní subjekty, do nichž se sloučila většina prvorepublikových stran. Vůdčí postavení měla Strana národní jednoty v čele s agrárníkem Rudolfem Beranem, který se po krátkém zdráhání stal předsedou nové vlády. Roli loajální opozice sehrála Národní strana práce. Do popředí se za druhé republiky začali dostávat také stoupenci krajní pravice a českého fašismu, kterým je v práci věnována samostatná kapitola. Hlavní fašistickou organizací byl Národní tábor československý, jehož iniciátorem se stal Radola Gajda z Národní obce fašistické. Mezi další důležité organizace patřila Vlajka a Akce národní obrody.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the political system of the Second Czechoslovak Republic and the Czech fascists. The introductory chapter describes the origins of Czechoslovakia and the activities of the first fascist organizations on the Czech territory. Subsequently, the political development of the second half of the 1930s, which led to the establishment of the Second Republic, is depicted. In autumn 1938, after the debates of the leading politicians, the political life was reduced to two main entities, which were created by a union of a majority of the First Republic parties. The leading one was the Party of National Unity headed by an agrarian Rudolf Beran, who, after a brief reluctance, became the prime minister of the new government. The loyal opposition was represented by the National Labour Party. During the period of the Second Republic, the supporters of the far right and Czech fascism began to come to the fore. A separate chapter is devoted to them. The main fascist organization was the Czechoslovak National Camp initiated by Radola Gajda of the National Fascist Community. Other important organizations included the Flag and the National Revival Action.
