Czech-German, German-Czech, Czech-Austrian and Austrian-Czech cultural standards in formal relations

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o základním vymezení a pochopení pojmu kultura, který je nezbytný pro správné a efektivní fungování v mezinárodním prostředí. Současně pak osvětluje teoretické přístupy ke kulturním standardům a dimenzím, skrze teorii předních autorů a odborníků v tomto směru. Na bázi publikací a hypotéz Alexandera Thomase současně prezentuje výsledky výzkumu, který probíhal formou hloubkového dotazovaní respondentů z České, Rakouské a Spolkové republiky Německo a jež si kladl za cíl deskriptivně čtenáři přiblížit aktuální standardy chování mezi populací vysokoškolských studentů z výše uvedených zemí. Celkově by tato práce měla čtenáři přinést i stručné srovnání kultur a vymezit situace, kde se dané národy dle výsledků dotazování rozcházejí. Závěrem jsou prezentovány rady a doporučení, jež by mu měly pomoci lépe pochopit chování lidí v rámci dané kultury a usnadnit tak jednání s nimi či zamezit kritickým incidentům.

Abstract:

This thesis discusses the basic definition and understanding of the concept of culture, which is essential for proper and effective functioning in an international environment. At the same time, it illuminates theoretical approaches to cultural standards and dimensions through the theory of leading authors and experts in this field. Based on the publications and hypotheses of Alexander Thomas, it simultaneously presents the results of a research conducted in the form of in-depth interviews with respondents from the Czech Republic, Austria and the Federal Republic of Germany, which aimed to descriptively present to the reader the current standards of behaviour among the population of university students from the aforementioned countries. Overall, this thesis should also provide the reader with a brief comparison of cultures and identify situations where the nations in question diverge according to the results of the interviews. Finally, advice and recommendations are outlined that should help the reader to better understand the behaviour of people within a given culture and thus facilitate dealing with them or avoid critical incidents.
