Cílem této práce je objasnit původ a jednotlivé aspekty Californication. Práce poukazuje na dvojí chápání Kalifornie. Z tohoto důvodu představuje koncept kalifornského snu vycházejícího z historie státu a zároveň koncept Californication, který má spojitost jak s důsledky vývoje Kalifornie, tak se způsobem vytváření a šíření podoby Kalifornie a její kultury skrze populární kulturu.
