Speakeasies - their significance and contribution to organized crime in the 1920s

Abstract:

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to characterize so-called speakeasies which experienced its flourishing during the era of Prohibition between 1920-1933, and how they were in breach of the Eighteenth Amendment to the American Constitution which introduced and specified the prohibiton. Another aim of this thesis is to prove the contribution those clubs had to the organized crime which is typical of the era of the Roaring Twenties.

Abstract:

Účelem této bakalářské práce je charakterizovat tajné kluby, které vznikaly během prohibice ve Spojených státech v letech 1920-1933, popsat, jak narušovaly 18. dodatek k americké ústavě, který prohibici zaváděl a definoval. Dalším cílem je definovat jejich vliv na růst organizovaného zločinu, který je pro tohle období typické.
