Stress factor threating the health of students majoring in social work

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou faktoru stresu působícího na studenty oboru sociální práce během jejich vysokoškolského vzdělávání. Zaobírá se také dopadem tohoto stresu na jejich zdraví. Teoretická část je členěna do čtyř kapitol. V první kapitole jsou vysvětleny pojmy stresor a zátěžová situace. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na objasnění pojmu stres a předložení teorií stresu. Třetí kapitola podrobně rozpracovává interakční pojetí stresu, v němž jsou uvedeny také moderátory stresu, reakce na stres a jeho zvládání a důsledky stresu v rámci zdraví. Čtvrtá kapitola pojednává o důležitosti odolnosti vůči stresu v rámci sociální práce. Empirická část práce zkoumá míru stresu působící na studenty oboru sociální práce fakulty sociálních studií Ostravské univerzity v Ostravě prostřednictvím projevů stresu v psychické, tělesné a behaviorální rovině osobnosti. Výzkum byl proveden kvantitativní strategií, a to výzkumným šetřením prostřednictvím dotazníku. Výsledky výzkumu ukazují, že studenti prožívají nadměrný stres. Nejvíce jsou stresováni studenti prvního a třetího ročníku bakalářského a druhého ročníku navazujícího magisterského studia. Nejmenší stres v rámci všech ročníků prožívají studenti prvního ročníku navazujícího magisterského studia. Dále bylo zjištěno, že projevy stresu v psychické, tělesné a behaviorální rovině se navzájem velmi silně ovlivňují. Výsledky výzkumu byly podnětem pro vytvoření seznamu technik a tipů k odbourávání stresu určených přímo pro studenty.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the factor of stress which influences students majoring in social work during their university education. It also concers of influence of stress on student's health. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter I explain the concepts of stressor and stressful situation. The second chapter focuses on the description of the term stress and stress theories. The third chapter elaborates the interaction theory of stress in which there are also mentioned the moderators of stress, responses to stress, stress management and effects of stress on health. The fourth chapter concerns the importance of resilience to stress in social work. The research examines the level of stress impacting the students of social work Faculty of Social Studies, University of Ostrava by the manifestations of stress in mental, physical and behavioral level of personality. The research was conducted by quantitative strategy by a questionnaire survey. Results shows, that students are experiencing excessive stress. They are stressed the most during the first and third year of bachelor study and second-year of master's degree program. In all grades, first-year students of master study experience the lowest stress. It was also found that the manifestations of stress on mental, physical and behavioral level effects with each other very strongly. The results were a reason to create a list of techniques for stress relief for students.
