The formation of words in the field of medical terminology: an analysis of the examples of eye and ear diseases

Abstract:

This work is devoted to the problematic of word formation in a field of medical terminology on examples of eye and ear diseases. The work is divided into two parts – theoretic and practical part. The theoretic part explains characteristics of language for specific purposes, its terminology and word formation. In the practical part is carried out an analysis of German, hybrid, Latin and Greek nominal terms of eye and ear diseases from the point of word formation view. The collected language material of chosen diseases was excerpted from the Czech version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. The work is completed with German – Czech dictionary of the explored diseases terms.

Abstract:

Tato práce je věnována problematice tvoření slov v oblasti lékařské terminologie na příkladech očních a ušních onemocnění. Práce je členěna na dvě části – teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část předkládá charakteristiku odborného jazyka (Fachsprache), jeho členění a vlastnosti. Další kapitoly pojednávají o odborném lékařském jazyce, terminologii a tvoření slov. V praktické části je provedena analýza německých, hybridních a latinských a řeckých substantivních názvů očních a ušních onemocnění z hlediska jejich slovotvorby. Nashromážděný jazykový materiál vybraných onemocnění byl vyexcerpován z Mezinárodní statistické klasifikace nemocí a přidružených zdravotních problémů. Práce je doplněna o německo-český slovníček zkoumaných onemocnění.
