Analysis of the Existency of the Political Cycle in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou existence politického cyklu a vybraných ekonomických veličin v České republice. Zároveň jsou zkoumaná data dána do kontextu pravice a levice v politickém spektru. Zvolené období trvá od roku 1996 do roku 2019. Teoretická část se věnuje politickému systému České republiky, seznamuje čtenáře s vybranými makroekonomickými ukazateli, zabývá se hospodářským cyklem, politickým cyklem, státním rozpočtem a definuje pravici a levici. V praktické části jsou analyzována jednotlivá volební období. Pozornost je věnována makroekonomickým ukazatelům a výdajům státního rozpočtu. Také jsou jednotlivé vlády rozdělovány na pravicové a levicové. Dále jsou do kontextu pravice a levice zasazeny ukazatele meziročního růstu reálného HDP a ukazatel státního dluhu v % HDP. Nakonec je provedena samotná analýza existence politického cyklu, opět v kontextu pravice a levice.

Abstract:

The main subject of this thesis is to analyse the existency of the political cycle and chosen macroeconomic indicators in the Czech Republic. These data are also put into the context of political right and left. The period being analysed starts in the year 1996 and ends in the year 2019. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the Czech Republic's political system, chosen macroeconomic indicators, the economic cycle, the political cycle, the state budget and also defines political left and right. The practical part aims to analyse the individual election periods with the attention to the macroeconomic indicators and the state budget's expenses. Each government of the period is also declared right or left. Furthermore the indicators of yearly growth of the real GDP and the state's debt expressed in % of GDP are put into the context of political left and right. Lastly the analysis of the existency of the political cycle is done, again in the context of political left and right.
