(A)symmetry in the relationship of helping worker to client with mental illness

Abstract:

The diploma thesis entitle “(A)symmetry in the relationship of helping worker to client with mental illness“ elaborates on the character of the work with client, specifically on the relationship between helping worker and client. The thesis shows two extreme asymmetric and symmetric models of relationship in the context of the transformation residential institution. The main research question is focused on the identification, which elements of the asymmetric and symmetric models are dominant in the relationship of helping workers to a client with mental illness in the chosen organization. On the basis of the main research question a qualitative research was chosen and its methods semi-structural interview, participative observation and document analysis. The main research question is answered by the collected, interpreted and analyzed data. The answer with the recommendations are enclosed in the conclusion of this diploma thesis. Research and analysis prove that the asymmetrical elements are dominant in the relationship of helping worker to client with mental illness.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca ,,(A)symetria vo vzťahu pomáhajúceho pracovníka ku klientovi s duševným ochorením“ je zameraná na objasnenie charakteru celkovej povahy poskytovaných služieb s dôrazom na vzťah pracovníka a klienta v kontexte prebiehajúcej transformácie pobytového zariadenia. V práci sú vymedzené dva extrémne modely jednostranného a symetrického vzťahu korelujúce s extrémnymi modelmi pozadia poskytovaných služieb. Hlavná výskumná otázka je zameraná na zistenie, ktoré z prvkov jednostrannosti a symetrie prevažujú vo vzťahu pomáhajúceho pracovníka ku klientovi s duševným ochorením vo vybranej organizácii. Na danú problematiku je nazerané z percepcie pomáhajúcich pracovníkov. Na základe výskumnej otázky je zvolený kvalitatívny výskum, použitými metódami pre zber údajov sú pološtruktúrovaný rozhovor, zúčastnené pozorovanie a analýza dokumentov. Na základe získaných a analyzovaných údajov je v závere formulovaná odpoveď na hlavnú výskumnú otázku a pripojené odporučenia. Empirické šetrenie ukázalo, že vo vzťahu pomáhajúcich pracovníkov ku klientovi prevažujú prvky asymetrie.
