Abstract:

Tato práce představuje souhrn a rozbor jednotlivých argumentačních sporů, vyskytujících se v díle Tomáše Kulky. Analyzovány budou Kulkovy kritiky vztahující se k teoriím jiných autorů, které Kulka využívá na podporu svých tvrzení, i kritiky a námitky vůči samotným Kulkovým tezím ze strany odborné veřejnosti. Zdroji daných kritik jsou především tři knižní publikace Tomáše Kulky: Umění a kýč, Umění a falzum: Monismus a dualismus v estetice, Umění a jeho hodnoty: Logika umělecké kritiky, doplněné o články publikované v českých i zahraničních odborných periodikách. Cílem práce je odhalit logickou strukturu jednotlivých argumentů, přivést pozornost k přítomnosti argumentačních faulů nebo sofizmat, a rozhodnout, která strana ve sporu argumentuje s větší explikační silou. Analýzou uvedených argumentů jsou také objasněny jednotlivé estetické teorie Tomáše Kulky se všemi jejich úskalími. V textu jsou rovněž přiblíženy estetické teorie některých z nejvýznamnějších angloamerických estetiků jako byl např. Nelson Goodman nebo Monroe C. Beardsley, které jsou následně podrobeny analýze z pohledu Kulkových kritik.

Abstract:

This work contains a thorough analysis of philosophical debates and critiques contained within the work of one of the most significant representatives of Czech analytical aesthetics, Tomáš Kulka. Analyzed texts are mainly critiques of other authors used by Kulka to support his own statement, but also critiques issued by other academics, aimed towards Kulka and his theories. The sources for this study are mainly Kulka’s three book publications Umění a kýč, Umění a falzum: Monismus a dualismus v estetice, Umění a jeho hodnoty: Logika umělecké kritiky supported by journal entries from several czech and international aesthetic and philosophical journals. The aim of this work is to uncover the logical structure of the listed arguments, draw attention to hidden argumentational fauls, and to consider the explicational potential of the analyzed theories. Such analysis will also help to throw light on the main thesis’ of Kulka’s aesthetic theories with all their strengths and weaknesses. By studying Kulka’s critiques aimed against other academics, theories of some of the most significant aestheticians and philosophers of the Angloamerican aesthetics, such as Nelson Goodman or Monroe C. Beardsley, will be also discussed.
