Bahá'í's Relation to the Education and the Education System Focused on the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tématem této práce je pohled na fenomén vzdělání v rámci Bahá´í víry. První, teoretická část, se pokouší o podrobnější vymezení obsahu, charakteru a pozice tohoto pojmu s ohledem na rozbor textových zdrojů utvářejících podobu hnutí (Bahá´u´lláh, ´Abdu´l-Bahá, Shoghi Effendi, Světový dům spravedlnosti). V krátkosti je, ze strany teoretických východisek Bahá´í, načrtnuto také chápání vzájemných vztahů mezi náboženstvím a vědou, spolu s tendencemi tyto pohledy na svět zharmonizovat. Další snahou textu je poukázat na schopnost Bahá´í víry dlouhodobě existovat a působit v sekulárním sektoru, konkrétně na příkladu spolupráce Bahá´í International Community s některými orgány OSN, jež se mimo jiné orientují právě na problematiku vzdělávání. Přestože má Bahá´í poměrně jasnou představu o elementech, které by měly utvářet ideální podobu vzdělávacího systému, doposud nebyla žádná jednotná ani závazná forma výuky ustanovena. Text proto prezentuje alespoň dva vybrané modely z mnoha nabízených variant (Ruhi institut, ANISA). Teoretickou pasáž uzavírá pohled na význam vzdělávání a výchovy v rodině. Druhá část textu mapuje již konkrétní vzdělávací aktivity Bahá´í v České republice soustředěné jednak na děti a dospívající, jednak na dospělé. Na popisu těchto akcí chce ukázat, jak se teoretické inspirační zdroje projevují v orientaci a praxi současných komunit. Spolu s tím zároveň upozorňuje i na fakt, že tak intenzivní zaměření na vzdělávání a výchovu, jaké je patrné v prostoru České republiky, lze do značné míry hodnotit jako atypické. Uvedeny jsou proto rovněž další možné faktory determinující tuto skutečnost. Práci uzavírá text věnovaný Townshend International School a letmému pohledu na mezinárodní spolupráci na vzdělávacích projektech.

Abstract:

This thesis studies the phenomenon of education within the frame of the Bahá´í faith. The theoretical part of the text tries to specify its contents, character and position in regard to the textual sources forming the movement´s resemblance (Bahá´u´lláh, ´Abdu´l-Bahá, Shoghi Effendi, Universal House of Justice). Comprehension of the mutual relations between religion and science, together with the tendency to bring them in harmony with each other, is sketched in brief. The text wants to point out Bahá´í faith´s ability to exist and to act in the long term within the secular sector as well. Cooperation of Bahá´í International Community with several UNO agencies (focused on educational problems among others) serves as a concrete example. In spite of Bahá´ís relatively explicit conception of elements, which should shape an ideal education system, there has not been constituted any binding form of schooling. The text thus presents just two models, Ruhi Institute and ANISA model, chosen from many possible alternatives. The view of the significance of schooling and education within a family closes the theoretical part. The second part of the text already maps out specific educational activities of Czech Bahá´í believers focused both on children or youth and adults. The description of such activities aims to show, how the theoretical inspiratory sources determine the orientation and practices of contemporary communities. In conjunction with this, the text highlights the truth that such intensive concentration on education and training as it is possible to see in the Czech Republic, is in fact atypical. So there are mentioned other facts determining this reality. The treatise devoted to the Townshend International School and the international cooperation regarding education and training concludes this thesis.
