The relationship between performance on the Anti-saccade Task, Go/No-go task and the Stop-signal task

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda typ úlohy Anti-saccade task měří stejný koncept jako Go/No-go task, respektive Stop-signal task, kterým je podle literatury motorická impulzivita (čekací v případě Go/No-go task a zastavovací v případě Stop-signal task). V rámci práce je zodpovězena otázka, zda je motorická impulzivita stejným konceptem jako impulzivita okulomotorická nebo zda se tyto konstrukty liší. Výzkumná část práce představuje výsledky studie na české neklinické populaci. Na vzorku 37 osob ve věku od 18 do 55 let (12 mužů, 25 žen; m = 25,51 let; sd = 7,77 let) byly zjištěny demografické údaje a účastníci absolvovali testy Anti-saccade task, Go/No-go task a Stop-signal task. Výsledky těchto metod byly statisticky porovnány, korelovány a byla provedena explorativní analýza testu Anti-saccade task. Výzkumná otázka nebyla potvrzena a z výsledků analýzy je možné vyvodit, že testy neměří stejné konstrukty, respektive že motorická a okulomotorická impulzivita jsou možná související, ale rozdílné koncepty.

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to find out whether the Anti-saccade task measures the same concept as the Go/No-go task and the Stop-signal task which is, according to the literature, motor impulsivity (waiting for Go/No-go task and stopping for Stop-signal task). The question whether motor impulsivity is the same concept as oculomotor impulsivity or whether these constructs are different is answered. The research part of the thesis presents the results of the study on the Czech non-clinical population. Demographics were detected on a sample of 37 people aged 18 to 55 years (12 men, 25 women; m = 25.51 years; sd = 7.77 years) and the participants passed Anti-saccade task, Go/No-go task and Stop-signal task. The results of these methods were statistically compared, correlated and an exploratory analysis of the Anti-saccade task was performed. The research question has not been confirmed and it can be deduced from the results of the analysis that the tests do not measure the same constructs or that motor and oculomotor impulsivity are possibly related but different concepts.
