Abstract:

Pandemie Covid-19 přinesla ve finančním průmyslu významné změny, které urychlily potřebu digitalizace. Tato studie zkoumá dopad pandemie na digitalizaci tureckého bankovního odvětví a také její dopady na zákaznickou zkušenost, provozní procesy, obchodní modely a digitální schopnosti. Tento výzkum zkoumá iniciativy digitální transformace ING Bank a Akbank, dvou předních tureckých bank s odlišnou organizační kulturou, pomocí kvalitativní analýzy více případů a analýzy archivního obsahu. K tomuto účelu se využívá Capgemini Digital Transformation Framework. Ke sběru dat byly využity rozhovory s bankovními experty z obou institucí a analýza archivního obsahu. Primární zjištění naznačují, že obě banky úspěšně prošly krizí podstatnými úpravami svých obchodních postupů, strategií a digitálních kanálů a také zlepšením zákaznické zkušenosti, zefektivněním provozních procesů, úpravou obchodních modelů a rozšířením digitálních možností. Díky těmto snahám byly banky schopny uspokojit rostoucí poptávku po službách digitálního bankovnictví, udržet nepřetržitý provoz a udržet si své konkurenční postavení v odvětví. Tato studie se snaží přispět do literatury zkoumáním výhod rychlé digitalizace jako reakce na pandemii, konkrétně v tureckém bankovním průmyslu. Zkoumání zkušeností těchto dvou bank může finančním institucím po celém světě poskytnout cenné poznatky a poučení, jak se přizpůsobují digitálnímu věku. Tento výzkum poskytuje pokyny pro banky, které upřednostňují digitální transformaci v dynamickém finančním prostředí.

Abstract:

Significant changes have been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic in the financial industry, accelerating the need for digitalization. This study investigates the impact of the pandemic on the digitalization of the Turkish banking industry, as well as its effects on customer experience, operational processes, business models, and digital capabilities. This research investigates the digital transformation initiatives of ING Bank and Akbank, two prominent Turkish banks with distinct organizational cultures, using qualitative multi-case analysis and archival content analysis. For this purpose, the Capgemini Digital Transformation Framework is utilized. Interviews with bank experts from both institutions and archival content analysis were used to collect data. The primary findings indicate that both banks successfully navigated the crisis by making substantial modifications to their business procedures, strategies, and digital channels, as well as by enhancing customer experience, streamlining operational processes, modifying business models, and expanding digital capabilities. The banks were able to meet the expanding demand for digital banking services, maintain uninterrupted operations, and maintain their competitive positions in the industry as a result of these efforts. This study seeks to contribute to the literature by examining the benefits of rapid digitalization as a response to the pandemic, specifically in the Turkish banking industry. Examining the experiences of these two banks can provide financial institutions worldwide with valuable insights and teachings as they adapt to the digital age. This research provides guidance for banks prioritizing digital transformation in a dynamic financial environment.
