Práce si klade za cíl analyzovat a identifikovat hlavní příčinu odtržení jižních států od USA. Za tímto účelem se zabývá právním vývojem Spojených států před občanskou válkou a posléze odtržením jednotlivých států. The thesis aims to analyse and identify the main cause of the secession of the southern states from the USA. To this end, it examines the legal development of the United States before the Civil War and the subsequent secessions of the individual states.
