Teaching of the structural syntax according to Lucien Tesnière's methodology

Abstract:

The master's thesis presents the French linguist Lucien Tesniere and his work, which is exposed in his principal publication: Éléments de syntax structurale. The thesis is divided into two parts: the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part deals with the life and career of Lucien Tesniere and analyzes his principal work (Éléments de syntax structurale). Lucien Tesniere is one of the major linguists of the twenties, he´s a representative of structural syntax / structural grammar and he´s also the founder of the so-called dependency grammar. Lucien Tesniere is a great and reputable theorist in his field, but his added value is the fact that he was also a sworn, tireless and careful practitioner of this issue. Throughout his life, he has worked as a professor of structural syntax, structural grammar and dependency grammar, and therefore he also focuses on teaching as much. The last chapter of his most important methodology, Élémments de syntax structural, deals with the methodology, demonstration and explanation of how his theory should actually be taught. This concept also opens up the practical part of the master's thesis , which focuses first on pedagogical and didactic properties in general, then tries to incorporate these facts into the methodology of Lucien Tesniere. Some modeling plans for structural syntax courses based on the Lucien Tesniere methodology are created in this section. The thesis gives guidance on how structural grammar or structural syntax could be taught with the help of the theories and knowledge of our author.

Abstract:

Magisterská práce představuje francouzského lingvistu Luciena Tesniera a jeho práci, která je vysvětlena v jeho stěžejním díle: Éléments de syntaxe structurale. Práce je rozdělena na 2 části: část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část pojednává o životě a kariéře Luciena Tesniera a analyzuje jeho stěžejní dílo (Éléments de syntaxe structurale). Lucien Tesniere patří mezi významné lingvisty 20. let, je představitelem strukturálního syntaxe/strukturální gramatiky a je zakladatelem tzv. závislostní gramatiky. Lucien Tesniere je velkým a uznávaným teoretikem ve svém oboru, jeho přidanou hodnotou je ale fakt, že byl i zapřísáhlý, neúnavný a pečlivý praktik této problematiky. Během celého svého života je činný jako profesor strukturálního syntaxe, strukturální gramatiky a závislostní gramatiky, proto svou práci zaměřuje i na problematiku výuky jako takové. Poslední kapitola jeho nejvýznamnějšího díla, Éléments de syntaxe structurale, se věnuje metodice, ukázce a vysvětlení, jakým způsobem by se vlastně mělo jeho teorii vyučovat. Tato koncepce otevírá i praktickou část magisterské práce, která se nejdříve zaměřujeme na pedagogické a didaktické vlastnosti obecně, poté se snaží tyto skutečnosti zapracovat do metodologie Luciena Tesniera. V této části jsou vytvořeny vzorové výukové plány pro kurzy strukturálního syntaxe opírající se o metodiku Luciena Tesniera. Práce dává návod, jak by se mohlo vyučovat strukturální gramatiku/strukturální syntax za pomoci teorií a poznatků našeho autora.
