Prevention and Risk of Falls in Elderly People in Institutional Care

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá rizikem pádu u seniorů, žijících v Ostravském domově pro seniory, umístěných na třech vybraných odděleních. Vymezuje cílovou skupinu seniory, zdravotně sociální systém, koordinovanou rehabilitaci a riziko pádu. Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit riziko pádu u institucionalizovaných seniorů prostřednictvím standardizovaného nástroje Morse Fall Scale a Nástroje užívaného v daném zařízení k hodnocení rizika pádu. Dílčím cílem je návrh preventivních opatření v rámci rizika pádu z pohledu multidisciplinárního týmu Domova pro seniory. Diplomová práce se dělí na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část je rozdělena do tří kapitol, které se věnují základní pojmosloví z oblasti stáří a stárnutí, zdravotně sociálnímu systému v ČR a pádům. Empirická část je zaměřena na celkovou metodologii, interpretaci výsledků z výzkumného šetření a diskuzi. Pro naplnění hlavního cíle byla využita kvantitativní výzkumná strategie. Realizována dotazníkovým šetřením s pomocí standardizovaného nástroje Morse Fall Scale a Nástroje užívaného v daném zařízení k hodnocení rizika pádu. Dotazníkového šetření se účastnilo 106 respondentů. Získané výsledky byly zpracovány s pomocí jednorozměrné a dvourozměrné analýzy. Pro lepší přehlednost byly použity tabulky a grafy. V rámci provedeného výzkumu bylo vyhodnoceno riziko pádu u seniorů žijících v Domově pro seniory a byl navržen pracovní postup pro multidisciplinární tým se zaměřením na preventivní opatření rizika pádu u seniorů.

Abstract:

The submitted diploma thesis is focused on the fall risk of seniors living in the Senior Home in Ostrava, who are located in three selected departments. It defines the target group of seniors, the health and social system, the coordinated rehabilitation and the fall risk. The objective of the diploma thesis is to find out the fall risk of institutionalized seniors through the standardized tool called Morse Fall Scale and the Tool used in the given facility to assess the fall risk. The partial objective is to propose preventive measures regarding the fall risk from the perspective of a multidisciplinary team of the Senior Home. The diploma thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters focused on the basic terminology of old age and aging, the health and social system in the Czech Republic and the falls. The empirical part is focused on the overall methodology, the interpretation of results from research inquiries and discussion. The quantitative research strategy was used to achieve the main objective. It was implemented by a questionnaire survey using the standardized tool called Morse Fall Scale and the tool used in the given facility to assess the fall risk. 106 respondents participated in the questionnaire survey. The obtained results were processed using one-dimensional and two-dimensional analysis. Tables and graphs were used for better clarity. Within the performed research, the fall risk of seniors living in the Senior Home was assessed and the workflow with the focus on the preventive measures against the fall risk of seniors was proposed to the multidisciplinary team.
