Institutional care from the perspective of children's home workers in the Czech Republic and Austria

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje hodnocením procesu ústavní péče v České republice a v Rakousku. Teoretická část se zabývá Mezinárodním kontextem ochrany práv dětí, pokračuje vymezením pojmů související s ústavní péčí a přibližuje profesi sociálního pedagoga působícího v dětském domově. Cílem práce je zmapovat vnímání pracovníků přesněji vychovatelů dětských domovů na ústavní péči v jejich zemi, nadále zjistit faktory ovlivňující ústavní péči, roli vychovatele a možné změny, jež by chtěli vychovatelé v rámci ústavní péče provést. Pro zodpovědění otázek bylo využito metody polostrukturovaného rozhovoru, který byl proveden v rámci kvalitativního výzkumného pojetí. Zjistili jsme, že v rámci výsledků můžeme spatřit určité shody či rozdíly ve vnímání a hodnocení ústavní péče vychovateli. Naše zjištění může být přínosem praktickým pro pracovníky dětských domovů, a to zejména v obohacení informací a poznatků ohledně ústavní péče pohledem ostatních vychovatelů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the process of institutional care in the Czech Republic and Austria. The theoretical part deals with the International Context of the Protection of Children's Rights, continues with the definition of terms related to institutional care and introduces the profession of social pedagogue working in a children's home. The goal of the work is to map the perception of workers more precisely to educators of children's homes on institutional care in their country, to further identify the factors influencing institutional care, the role of educators and possible changes that educators would like to make in institutional care. The method of semi-structured interview, which was conducted within the framework of a qualitative research concept, was used to answer the questions. We found that based on the results we can see certain similarities or diffrences in the perception and evaluation of institutional care by educators. Our findings can be a practical benefit for the staff of children's homes, especially in the enrichment of information and knowledge about institutional care from the perspective of other educators.
