"Land grabbing" – common form of Foreign (Direct) Investments?

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice FDI, především land grabbingu, kde tento pojem vymezuje a rozebírá vznik a rozvoj této FDI. Jsou zde rozebrány důvody vzniku a rozšíření land grabbingu, kdy se postupně rozebírá vliv ceny komodit, ceny a využití orné půdy, vliv biopaliv, růst populace v návaznosti na Malthusovu populační teorii a růst populace v investujících státech, jako poslední důvod se práce věnuje zlepšení životní úrovně obyvatel v rozvíjejících se zemích. Za rozvíjející se země a zástupce investorů do land grabbingu byly především zkoumány data z Číny a Saúdské Arábie. Práce dále poukazuje na rozdíly ve vnímání některých faktorů mezi investory klasických FDI a investory do land grabbingu. Je zde i vykreslena situace některých zemí, které jsou častým cílem land grabbingu -- Tanzanie, Mozambik a Kambodža. U těchto zemí se zkoumá příliv všech FDI, vhodnost těchto zemí pro investování, především jejich politickou situaci a nakonec pohled na vývoj populace a možné následky těchto investic.

Abstract:

The bacherol thesis is concerned with issue of FDI, mostly land grabbing, where this term is specified and analysed formation and expansion of this FDI. There are analysed reasons of formation and expansion of land grabbing, when are gradually analysed influence of commodity price, price and usage of arable land, influence of biofuels, growth of population in response to Malthus' population theory and growth of population in investing countries, as last reason is concerned improving of life quality in developing countries. From developing countries and representation of investors into land grabbing were mostly analysed dates from China and Saudi Arabia. Thesis is poiting out on differences in perceiving of some factors between investors of usual FDI and investors into land grabbing. There is covered also situation of some countries, which are often targeted by land grabbing -- Tanzania, Mozambique and Cambodia. There are analysed incomes of all FDIs by these countries, convenience for investments of these countries, mainly their political situation and eventually view on progress of population and possible outcomes of these investments.
