An examination of the point of view on an activity of police officers in the relationship to social movement in 1918-1938

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá rolí četnictva při potírání projevů sociálních hnutí ČSR v letech 1918-1938 na Plzeňsku (západočeský kraj). Tyto procesy nebyly po roce 1989 obecně zhodnoceny. Naproti tomu literatura z let 1945 až 1989 se tématu věnuje opakovaně a systematicky s ohledem na politický režim v zemi. Diplomová práce si klade za cíl revidovat závěry autorů z let 1948 až 1989 v kontrastu dochovaných justičních/archivních dokumentů z let 1918 až 1938. Autor dále stručně zanalyzoval vznik a organizaci četnictva, vývoj sociálních hnutí v ČSR, právní rámec svobody slova a projevu (1918-1938), a úkoly státních složek a bezpečnostního aparátu při veřejných projevech spojených se sociálním hnutím. Na závěr autor objektivně zhodnotí a interpretuje roli četnictva v potlačování sociálních mítinků, demonstrací apod., v kontrastu dvou odlišných pohledů a politických zájmů.

Abstract:

This work deals with the role of the gendarmerie in combating the manifestations of social movements of the Czechoslovak Republic in the years 1918-1938 in the Pilsen region (West Bohemian region). These processes were not generally evaluated after 1989. In contrast, the literature from 1945 to 1989 deals with the topic repeatedly and systematically with regard to the political regime in the country. The diploma thesis aims to revise the conclusions of the authors from 1948 to 1989 in contrast to the preserved judicial / archival documents from 1918 to 1938. The author also briefly analyzed the origin and organization of the gendarmerie, the development of social movements in Czechoslovakia, legal framework of freedom of speech and expression (1918 -1938), and the tasks of state forces and the security apparatus in public speeches associated with the social movement. In conclusion, the author objectively evaluates and interprets the role of the gendarmerie in the suppression of social gatherings, demonstrations, etc., in contrast to two different views and political interests.
