The relationship betwwen empathy and burn-out syndrome

Abstract:

V diplomové práci se zabýváme syndromem vyhoření a empatií u zdravotních sester. V teoretické části se věnujeme nejprve syndromu vyhoření, jeho definici, příznakům a příčinám vzniku, diagnostikou, a také jeho souvislostí s povoláním zdravotní sestry. Dále se v teoretické části podobným způsobem zabýváme empatií. I zde jsou kapitoly věnované její definici, různým koncepcím a spojitostí s povoláním zdravotní sestry. Data potřebná pro empirickou část naší práce jsme získali vyplněním dotazníků od 188 zdravotních sester. Dotazník obsahoval Maslach Burnout Inventory ke zjištění míry vyhoření a Interpersonal Reactivity Index pro hodnocení míry empatie. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, které z proměnných, jako je pohlaví, věk, délka praxe či typ zdravotnického zařízení, mají vliv na míru vyhoření a empatie. Dále jsme chtěli zjistit, mezi těmito dvěma koncepty existuje vztah.

Abstract:

In diploma thesis we deal with burnout syndrome and empathy among nurses. In theoretical part we focus first on burnout, its definition, symptoms, causes, preventintion, diagnostics, and also on his connection with the profession of nurse. Similarly, in the next part we deal with empathy – its definition, different concepts, methods of measurement and also its relationship with profession of nurse. Data needed for the empiric part of our thesis was obtained from 188 nurses, who filled out our questionnaire consisting of Maslach Burnout Inventory, to determinate the rate of burnout, and Interpersonal Reactivity Index for determinate the rate of empathy. The aim of this thesis is to find out which of variables, such as gender, age, practice length or typ of health department, affect the rate of burnout and empathy. We also wanted to find out whether there is a relationship between these concepts.
