They and we: Communication of social workers of day care service with their clients in perception of clients

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na komunikaci mezi klienty (seniory) pečovatelské služby a jejich pečovatelkami. Na tuto problematiku je nahlíženo z pohledu klientů. K zodpovězení otázky, jak klienti pečovatelské služby vnímají komunikaci ze strany pečovatelek, je použit koncept zdravé (funkční) komunikace. V uskutečněné případové studii byli senioři dotazováni, jak pohlížejí na vybrané komunikační dovednosti svých pečovatelek. Práce je rozdělena na tři dílčí části. V teoretické části jsou uvažovány pojmy související se stářím a stárnutím, pečovatelskou službou a komunikací. Navazující metodologická část je věnována praktické organizaci výzkumu a je v ní zmíněn metodologický kontext plánovaného šetření. A konečně v empirické části jsou prezentovány konkrétní výsledky uskutečněné případové studie. Klienti hodnotili vybrané komunikační dovednosti pečovatelek kladně a měli pouze dílčí výhrady, které jsou uvedeny v textu.

Abstract:

The work is aimed at communication between clients (seniors) of day care service and social workers who visit them in their households. This task is focusing from the position of the clients. For answering this question – how clients perceive communication with social workers - was applied concept of functional communication. In the realized case study seniors were interviewed how they look upon chosen communication skills of social workers. This work is divided into three main sections. In theoretical part are considered theoretical concepts conected with age and ageing, social care service and communication. The following methodical part is devoted to practical research preparation with mentioning the methodological context of planned research. Finally, concrete results of realized case study are presented in the last empirical part. Clients positively evaluated chosen communication skills of social workers, they had only few exceptions which are presented in text.
