Assessment of the health status of European Beech and European Larch stands regenerated with shelterwood cut

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá zhodnocením zdravotního stavu buku lesního a modřínu opadavého v lesních porostech, u nichž se uplatňuje obnova clonným hospodářským způsobem. Tyto porosty na majetku ŠLP Křtiny, ve kterých již byla zahájena obnova pomocí clonných sečí, byly šetřeny a byla zde hodnocena defoliace a další charakteristiky zdravotního stavu. Současně byly sledovaným dřevinám odebrány vývrty, aby byly provedeny dendrochronologické analýzy. Z dosažených výsledků vyplývá, že modřín vykazuje horší zdravotní stav v porovnání s bukem, což se projevuje na přírůstu modřínu za poslední tři dekády. Obě dřeviny jsou citlivé na letní srážky více než na jarní, ale také na vysoké letní teploty a teploty v roce před tvorbou letokruhu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the assessment of the health status of beech and larch in forest stands where shelterwood management is applied. These stands on the property of ŠLP Křtiny, in which regeneration shelterwood management has already started, were investigated, defoliation and other health characteristics were assessed. At the same time, cores were taken from the monitored trees in order to carry out dendrochronological analyses. The results show that larch have a worse health status than beech, which is reflected in larch growth over the last three decades. Both tree species are more sensitive to summer rainfall than spring rainfall, but also to high summer temperatures and temperatures in the year before the formation of the tree-ring.
