Comparison of T2 relaxation time between a professional runner and health-oriented runners.

Abstract:

Běh patří mez pohybovou aktivitu, která se v současné době stává čím dál více populární. Diplomová práce porovnává dvě odlišné výzkumné skupiny, které se liší především v počtu naběhaných kilometrů za týden. Cílem práce bylo porovnat jejich relaxační časy Achillových šlach dle scanů z magnetické rezonance a ověřit hypotézu, že relaxační čas profesionálního běžce bude delší, což může mít za následek zhoršené vlastnosti či deformace Achillovy šlachy. Tuto hypotézu jsem v této práci potvrdila pro střední části Achillovy šlachy, kde relaxační čas profesionálního běžce byl podstatně delší. Rovněž hodnoty vstupní části Achillovy šlachy pro dlouhou složku relaxačního času prokázaly delší relaxační čas. Pouze u krátké složky relaxačního času této části Achillovy šlachy se hypotéza nepotvrdila. Ve své práci poukazuji na to, co by mohl delší relaxační čas Achillovy šlachy znamenat nejen pro sportovce.

Abstract:

Running is one of the physical activity that is becoming more and more popular nowadays. The diploma thesis compares two different research groups, which differ mainly in the number of kilometers run per week. The aim of the work was to compare their relaxation time of Achilles tendons according to magnetic resonation scans and to verify the hypothesis that the relaxation time of a professional runner will be longer, which may result in impaired properties or deformation of the Achilles tendon. I confirmed this hypothesis in this work for the middle part of the Achilles tendon, where the relaxation time of a professional runner was longer. The values of the inlet part of the Achilles tendon for the long component of the relaxation time also showed a longer relaxation time. Only the short component of the relaxation time of this part of the Achilles tendon was not confirmed. In my work I point out what a longer relaxation time of the Achilles tendon could mean not only for athletes.
