St. Barbara from the Kutná Hora in the Lapidary of the National museum

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je věnována soše sv. Barbory. Socha je datována kolem roku 1500. Původně byla umístěna nad severním portálem Chrámu sv. Barbory v Kutné Hoře. Socha byla nahrazena kopií na konci 19. století. Dnes je originál sochy umístěn v Lapidáriu Národního muzea v Praze. V této práci je rozebrána literatura, která se zmiňuje o existenci sochy sv. Barbory a také o její kopii. Část Mistr české gotiky Matěj Rejsek z Prostějova je rozbor jediné napsané monografie o architektovi a sochaři Matěji Rejskovi. V Osudu díla jsou shrnuté všechny dosud známé informace o soše sv. Barbory. V druhé kapitole se nachází popis díla a jeho komparace s kopií sochy. Kopie není přesná napodobenina originálu, ale má dochované některé části, které se na soše z pozdního středověku nedochovaly. V práci není opomenuta ikonografie sv. Barbory se zaměřením na středověk. Poslední kapitola je zaměřena na soudobé sochařství a dataci sochy. Na základě studia jsem datovala sochu do 90. let 15. století.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis pays attention to the statue of St. Barbara. The statue's birth dates about the year 1500 AD. The statue was created for the St. Barbara's cathedral in Kutná Hora. There the statue was placed above the northern portal. In the end of the 19th century the statue St. Barbara was replaced by the replica. Nowadays, the original statue is exhibited in the Lapidary of National museum in Prague. There is an analysis of literature, which alludes to statue St. Barbara and to replica of the statue in the first part. The part Mistr české gotiky Matěj Rejsek z Prostějova is an analysis of the only monograph about achitect and sculptor Matěj Rejsek. In the part Osud díla are summed all information about the statue. In chapter two is the statue description and comparing of the statue with the replica. The replica is not a duplicate, but it has some part, which are not placed on the original statue of St. Barbara. The reader finds there the iconography of St. Barbara focused on medieval iconography. The last chapter pays to period sculpture and to dating the statue St. Barbara. I dated the statue St. Barbara in the 90's of the 15th century on the basis of research.
