Idea of Republikanism in Aristotele's Politics

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je nalézt, na základě znaků republikanismu, Ideu republikanismu v Aristotelově díle Politika a následně vytvořit minimální kontextuální definici. K dosažení cíle je využita kvalitativní metoda obsahové analýzy, která je v nejasných pasážích doplněna o interpretativní čtení. Aristoteles, jakožto hlavní autor, kterému je v rámci bakalářské práce věnována pozornost, je komparován s dalšími dvěma autory H. Arendt a N. Machiavellim. Předmětem komparace u všech autorů je jejich vize republikanismu s ohledem na dobový kontext, který je v jednotlivých pojetí znatelný. Na základě komparace Aristotela s autory dochází k ukotvení pojmů v souvislosti s kontextem Aristotelovy Politiky. Za pomoci těchto kroků je vysvětlena idea republikanismu, která vychází z Aristotelova díla Politika a která je vázána přímo k Aristotelovi a danému dílu. Z toho důvodu ji nelze použít jako obecné vysvětlení republikanismu. Na konec je naplněn hlavní cíl bakalářské práce utvořením minimální kontextuální definice.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find the idea of the republicanism in Aristotle´s work "Politics" on the basis of the charakteristics of republicanism and to create a minimal contextual definition. Taking in consideration the knowledge of Aristotle´s basic work I choose the method of content analysisis which is supplemented by interpretive reading in unclear passages. Aristotle as the main author who is the subject of the bachelor thesis compared with the other authors H. Arendt and N. Machiavelli. The subject of comparison is for all authors the vision of Republicanism with regard to the contempory context which is perceptible in individual concepts. Based on the comparison of Aristotle with the authors, the terms in connection with the context of Arostotle´s "Politics" are anchored. By taking these steps the idea of Republicanism based on Aristotle´s work "Politics" is explained, and it is tied directly to Aristotle´s work. For this reason, they cannot be used for a general explanation of republicanism. Finally, the main goal of the bachelor thesis is to create a minimal contextual thesis defenition.
