Abstract:

Cílem této práce je představení pohledu jakým se franští učenci nebo obecně Frankové dívali na Bretaňský poloostrov a na samotné Bretonce. Tento obraz budeme představovat na základě analýzy dobových pramenů a vybraných franských kronik, jako je O boji králů a údělu spravedlivých od Řehoře z Tours, Annales regni Francorum a nakonec Annales Mettenses priores. Analýzou záznamů v těchto kronikách a na základě vztahu jejich autorů k Bretani se tedy budu snažit vytvořit obraz Bretaně a celkově celé situace na bretaňsko-franských hranicích až z hlediska kulturního, politického nebo vojenského.

Abstract:

The goal of this work is to present the view of how Frankish scholars or Franks in general viewed the Brittany peninsula and the Bretons themselves. We will present this picture based on the analysis of historical sources and selected Frankish chronicles, such as Ten Book of Histories, writen by Gregory of Tours, Annales regni Francorum and finally Annales Mettenses priores. By analyzing the records in these chronicles and based on the relationship of their authors to Brittany, I will therefore try to create an image of Brittany and, in general, the entire situation on the Breton-Frankish border from a cultural, political or military point of view.
