Analysis of the pension system development in the Czech Republic between 1993 and 2016 and its sustainability after the so-called small pension reform

Abstract:

Zabezpečení na stáří je v současné době diskutované akademickou i laickou veřejností. Cílem bakalářské práce je analyzovat vývoj penzijního systému v České republice a faktory na něj úzce navazující. Z provedené analýzy vyplývá, že si vláda uvědomovala nutnost změn a také se o ně pokoušela. Po provedených reformách se však finanční udržitelnost důchodového systému v České republice nezvýšila. Jedním z poznatků bylo také to, že míra nezaměstnanosti není ve skupině nejvýznamnějších faktorů ovlivňujících finanční udržitelnost systému. Krátká analýza prognóz budoucího vývoje nastiňuje nevalné vyhlídky do budoucna, ale kombinace možných scénářů řešení by mohla situaci vylepšit.

Abstract:

Security for the old age is currently discussed by the academic and lay public. The aim of my bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of the pension system in the Czech Republic and the factors closely linked to it. The analysis shows that the goverment was aware of the need for changes and they also attempted to do so. However, after the reforms, the Financial sustainability of the pension systém in the Czech Republic has not increased. One of the findings was also that the unemployment rate is not one of the most important factors influencing the financial sustainability of the system. A brief analysis of forecasts for the future developments outlines the poor prospects for the future, but a combination of the possible scenarios of solutions could improve the situations.
