Process and Change in the Visual Arts of the Second Half of the 20th Century

Abstract:

The diploma thesis Process and Change in Art of the Second Half of the 20th Century presents a wider theoretical survey of the effects of the process on the art of the second half of the 20th century (especially in the period between 1950 - 1970) and at the same time examines the possibilities of using the principles of process-based art education in practice. The thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical part and didactic and practical part. The aim of the theoretical work is to examine the changes in the art of the second half of the 20th century, which took place under the influence of the visualization of the process in the work of art towards the process art. The work follows the development of changes in painting towards action tendencies under the influence of gestures as well as changes in the framework of sculptural work, which stimulate the emergence of a new art form - object. The object and its material become carriers of possible real-time transformation. The aim of the didactic and practical part is to explain the concept of processual art education and to apply its principles in my own teaching practice. I document the realization of my own lessons by lesson preparations and photographs.

Diplomová práca Proces a zmena v umení druhej polovice 20. storočia predstavuje širší teoretický prieskum vplyvov procesu na tvorbu umelcov 2. polovice 20. storočia a zároveň skúma možnosti využitia princípov procesuálne založenej výtvarnej výchovy v praxi. Práca je rozdelená do dvoch častí – teoretickej a didakticko-praktickej. Cieľom teoretickej práce je preskúmať zmeny v umení 2. polovice 20. storočia (najmä v období 50.-70.rokov), ktoré sa odohrali pod vplyvom zviditeľnenia procesu v umeleckom diele smerom k procesuálnemu umeniu. Práca sleduje vývoj zmien v maľbe smerom k akčným tendenciám pod vplyvom gesta ako aj zmeny v rámci sochárskej tvorby, ktoré podnietil vznik novej umeleckej formy- objektu. Objekt a jeho materiál sa stávajú nositeľmi možnej transformácie v reálnom čase. Cieľom didakticko - praktickej časti je vysvetlenie pojmu procesuálna výtvarná výchova a aplikovanie jej princípov vo svojej vlastnej učiteľskej praxi. Realizáciu vlastných vyučovacích blokov dokumentujem prostredníctvom vypracovaných príprav a fotografií.
