Hulajgęba (Artistic design of book series of author Witold Gombrowicz)

Abstract:

V mé diplomové práci budu zpracovávat knižní sérii autora Witolda Gombrowicze, jehož dílo je obsahově a žánrově nesmírně bohaté (přes prózy, divadelní hry, sbírky esejí po deníky). Opírajíc se o zaběhnutá pravidla, se budu snažit prokázat, že je možné tato pravidla s úspěchem překračovat. Na základě toho, by se měl návrh souběžně vyvíjet vždy s materiálem/textem, který se zpracovává. Tvůrčí proces vnímám jako hru s formou (na stejné úrovni stojí typografie, grafická úprava a také fyzická podoba knížky). Celý obsah mé práce by se dal vyjádřit Gombrowiczovým citátem: ??univerzální styl je ten, který s láskou objímá postižení? V teoretické části diplomové práce se budu také zabývat postupem vzniku knihy, od nápadu až po její distribuci.

Abstract:

In my magistry work, I will be designing book-series of author: Witold Gombrowicz (his work is extremly unusual in context of meenings and types of literature). Based on classical rules in book design, I will try to proof that you can successively reinterpreting/crossover them. I am understending the process of work like a play with form at the same level importance in typography, graphic design, and physical shape of the book. You can express in general the meening of my work by using the quotation of Witold Gombrowicz: ??universal style is the one, which hugs intellectual disability with love.?   I will be also analyse the process of reaching the book, from the moment when idea is formed, to the distribution of it.
