Masculinities in superheroes movies

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá maskulinitami v superhrdinských filmech. Klade si otázku, v jakých oblastech je v superhrdinských filmech napadána hegemonní maskulinita. K hegemonní maskulinitě přistupuje jako k ideologii působící skrze diskurzy na subjekt. Při konceptualizaci ideologie a hegemonie vychází z teorií, pro které je společné tematizování ideologie a hegemonie jako nestabilních entit, které jsou předmětem vyjednávání. Toto vyjednávání probíhá v diskurzech. Metodou práce je kritická diskurzivní analýza, která se věnuje rozkrývání ideologické funkce jazyka. Téma práce bude rozklíčováno na základě konceptu hegemonní maskulinity v různých oblastech, které budou postihnuty skrze vedlejší výzkumné otázky. Subjekty diskurzu budou v tomto případě muži-superhrdinové. Specifikem jejich pozice je existence superschopnosti. Práce se tedy zaměřovat na to, jak existence superschopnosti ovlivňuje pozici jednotlivce v oblasti institucí, mezilidských vztahů a v individuální rovině a co toto implikuje ve vztahu jedince k hegemonní maskulinitě.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on masculinities in superhero movies. It asks a question in which cases is hegemonic mascunility is contested in superhero movies. It approaches to hegemonic mascunility like an ideology influencing discourses on the subject. This work conceptualizing ideology is based on theories that unifies the themes of ideology and hegemony as an unstable entities which are the subject of the negotiation. This negotiation takes place in discourses. The method of my work is an critical discoursive analysis concentrating on revealing an ideologic function of a language. The topic of my work will be examined using the concept of hegemony masculinity in different cases which will be affected through secondary questions. The subjects of this discourse will be men-superheroes. The specifics of their position is the ability to use superpower. My work will focus on how the superpower affects position of the person in the areas of an establishment, a relationships and an individual level and what these facts implicates in the case of an individual versus hegemonic masculinity.
