Why are we afraid of death?

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce je zaměřena na téma, které je společné nám všem - je to téma strachu ze smrti. Každý z nás se tímto strachem v určitém měřítku ve svém životě s jistotou zaobíral a mne zajímalo, jaké konkrétní strachy se lidem pojí se smrtí a zdali za těmito strachy není nějaký jeden ústřední. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a výzkumnou část. V teoretické části se budu zabývat základním terminologickým vymezením pojícím se se smrtí, potřebami umírajících, a ontogenezí uvědomování si smrti v kognitivním pojetí. Ve výzkumné části provedu rozbor kvalitativního charakteru, ve kterém uskutečním kvalitativní rozhovory s probandy s cílem zjistit, proč mají lidé strach ze smrti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis concentrates on a topic common to all of us, it is the topic of the fear of death. Each one of us dealt with this fear in a certain way and I was interested in finding out which specific fears do people connect with death and if there is one central fear behind these fears. This thesis has a theoretic and a research part. In the theoretic one I will concentrate on the basic definition of terms connected to death, the needs of a dying person and the process of awareness of death in the cognitive approach. In the research part, I will analyse in a qualitative way why do people fear death by interviewing them.
