Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce Aspekty feminismu ve vybraných dílech Virginie Woolfové je charakteristika viktoriánského období, vymezení feminismu a následný rozbor těchto aspektů ve vybraných dílech Virginie Woolfové. Tato práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Část teoretická předkládá charakteristiku viktoriánského období, ve kterém Woolfová působila. Zaměřuje se zejména na změny, které se v tomto období udály, a které napomohly ženám v získání rovnoprávnosti. Dále popisuje život a dílo spisovatelky Virginie Woolfové se zaměřením na klíčové okamžiky jejího života, které ovlivnily její tvorbu a formovaly její myšlení. Dále jsou zde definovány kořeny a vznik feminismu a jeho odraz v literatuře.Část praktická je analýzou vybraných prací Virginie Woolfové, konkrétně se jedná o romány Paní Dallowayová a K Majáku, a následně dvou esejí, jejž stály u zrodu moderního feminismu tj. Vlastní pokoj a Tři guineje. V této části práce je obsažena charakteristika postav jednotlivých románů s ohledem na aspekty feminismu a dále analýza základních myšlenek dvou feministických esejí.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis Aspects of Feminism in Selected Works by Virginia Woolf is characteristics of the Victorian period, the definition of feminism and subsequent analysis of these aspects in selected works by Virginia Woolf. This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part deals with characteristics of the Victorian period in which Woolf worked. It focuses particularly on the changes that occurred in this period and that helped women to gain equal rights. It also describes life and work of an extraordinary writer Virginia Woolf, focusing on key moments of her life which influenced her writing and shaped her thinking. There are also defined roots of feminism and its reflection in the literature. Practical part examines selected works by Virginia Woolf. In particular we talk about the novels Mrs. Dalloway and To the Lighthouse, and two essays which helped creation of modern feminism i.e Room of One´s Own, and Three Guineas. This part contains an analysis of the nature of individual characters in selected works and it also defines basic ideas of feminism contained in the two essays.
