Anotace:

The thesis „Hockey as a Metaphor for English-French Relations in Canada” deals with the phenomenon of ice hockey in Canada. It covers effects of the game on Canadian people and their culture, the relationship between hockey and politics mainly with focus on events in Quebec in the 1970s when Quebec separatists tried to achieve independence on the rest of Canada. The thesis answers why hockey is such a big thing for Canada and what it has to do with their politics and society.
