Sekuritizace vázaná na pojištění se dostávala do popředí zájmu od výskytu přírodních katastrof v podobě tropických bouří, které zasáhly pobřeží Spojených států v 90. letech 20. století. Od té doby se investoři pomalu učili důvěřovat sekuritizaci v podobě přenesení svých rizik z pojistného trhu na trh kapitálový. The insurance-linked securitization has been brought to more attention since the natural catastrophes occurred in the form of tropical storms, that hit the coasts of United States in the 1990’s.
