Trestní řízení před soudem představuje ústřední etapu trestního procesu, v níž dochází k zásadnímu rozhodnutí o vině a trestu obžalovaného. Tato fáze se vyznačuje striktním dodržováním fundamentálních principů trestního řízení, mezi něž patří presumpce neviny, právo na obhajobu a právo na spravedlivý proces.
