Burnout syndrome in military personnel

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá syndromem vyhoření u příslušníků armády. Práce se skládá z teoretické části, která se prvotně zaměřuje na syndrom vyhoření obecně. V textu práce je popsána definice, historie, nejčastější příznaky, rizikové faktory a léčba. Velká část práce je zaměřena na prevenci, kde je zmíněna jedna z nejpopulárnějších metod, a to mindfulness. Následně jsou v práci vymezena specifika profese příslušníka armády, kde je uvedena psychická, fyzická zátěž a časová vytíženost. Dále obsahuje práce část praktickou, ve které je využit kvantitativní výzkum. Výzkumným souborem je vojenský personál 72. mechanizovaného praporu v Přáslavicích. Měření bylo realizováno pomocí dotazníku. V praktické části jsou formulovány čtyři výzkumné otázky, které zkoumají intenzitu, nejmarkantnější faktor, souvislost se zvyšujícím se věkem a syndromem vyhoření a souvislost mezi délkou praxe a syndromem vyhoření. Úroveň vyhoření u průměrných celkových výsledků byla mírná, nejvíce postiženou oblastí byla depersonalizace. Výsledky také potvrdily souvislost mezi věkem vojáků a úrovní syndromu vyhoření. Faktor emocionálního vyčerpání se zvyšuje v závislosti na věku příslušníků armády. Naopak, délka praxe a syndrom vyhoření spolu nesouvisí. Cílem práce je předložit dohledané, aktuální a publikované poznatky o syndromu vyhoření obecně, uvést specifika profese příslušníka armády a následně analyzovat výskyt syndromu vyhoření u vojáků vlivem zátěže v dané profesi. Poznatky byly dohledány v databázích EBSCO, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect a Pubmed. Dále v odborných českých a slovenských periodikách.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with burnout syndrome in military personnel. The thesis consists of a theoretical part, which primarily focuses on burnout syndrome in general. The text of the thesis describes the definition, history, most common symptoms, risk factors and treatment. A large part of the thesis is focused on prevention, where one of the most popular methods is mentioned, namely mindfulness. Subsequently, the thesis defines the specifics of the profession of military personnel, where the psychological, physical burden and time utilization are given. Furthermore, the thesis contains a practical part, in which quantitative research is used. The research group is military personnel of the 72nd mechanized battalion in Přáslavice. The measurement was realized using a questionnaire. In the practical part, four research questions are formulated, which examine intensity, the most prominent factor, the connection with increasing age and burnout syndrome and the connection between practice duration and burnout syndrome. The burnout level of the average overall results was mild, depersonalization was the most affected area. The results also confirmed the connection between the age of soldiers and the level of burnout syndrome. The emotional exhaustion factor increases depending on the age of the members of the army. On the contrary, the duration of the practice and burnout syndrome are not related. The aim of the work is to present the observed, current and published knowledge about burnout syndrome in general, to present the specifics of the profession of a member of the army and then to analyze the occurrence of burnout syndrome in soldiers due to the stress in the given profession. The knowledge was found in databases EBSCO, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect and Pubmed. Further in professional Czech and Slovak periodicals.
