Possibilities of work of people with eye handicap

Abstract:

Tato práce se skládá ze tří částí: úvodní, teoretické a výzkumné. Jejím cílem je obeznámení se s nevidomým pracovníkům dostupnými možnostmi, pracovními činnostmi a bariérami vnímanými respondenty z výzkumného vzorku – souvisejícími s administrativní prací. V teoretické části jsou zmíněna hlediska speciálních podmínek zrakově handicapovaných, procesu integrace, ucelené rehabilitace, pohledu na pracovní uplatnění zrakově postižených osob a potenciálních bariér bránících nevidomým pracovníkům v uplatnění. Výzkumnou metodou byl polostrukturovaný rozhovor provedený s 20 respondenty z lokality Prahy nebo Brna, staršími 18let, u nichž byla diagnostikována úplná nevidomost a kteří mají alespoň 6měsíční pracovní zkušenost s pozicí, jejíž součástí byla administrativní činnost. Výsledkem výzkumu jsou informace o respondenty vykonávaných zaměstnáních, používaných kompenzačních pomůckách a službách, respondentům dostupných pracovních činnostech, jimi používaných softwarových programech a kancelářských přístrojích, vnímaných problémech a bariérách souvisejících s nastavením zaměstnání i pracovním prostředím, a jejich postojích, které na tato zjištění mohou mít bezprostřední vliv. Pomoc spolupracovníků, podle zjištění, potřebují nevidomí pracovníci nejčastěji při orientaci v papírových dokumentech a v případě selhání kompenzačních pomůcek.

Abstract:

This work consists of three parts: an introduction, a theoretical part and a research part. Its objective is to introduce employment options available to persons with visual impairment and with obstacles perceived by the respondents of my research sample – related to administrative work. In the theoretical part I mention various points of view of special conditions of persons with visual impairment, the process of their integration, complex rehabilitation, view of their employment and potential barriers hindering their employment. My research method is based on a semi-structured interview carried out with 20 respondents (aged 18 years and older) of the territory of Prague or Brno diagnosed with total loss of vision who have at least a 6-month employment experience on a position including administrative work. The outcome of the research includes information about jobs performed by the respondents, utilized compensatory aids and services, employment activities available to the respondents, used software programmes and office equipment, perceived issues and barriers related to the setup of employment and their work environment, and their attitudes that might directly influence such findings. According to the findings of my research blind workers need some help in most cases because of the orientation in paper documents and in case failure of their compensatory aids.
