The minimum wage in the Czech republic

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje teoretickým přístupům k fungování trhu práce obecně a zabývá se především nástroji regulace tohoto trhu, které ovlivňuje jeho samostatné efektivní fungování. Jako stěžejní regulační nástroj trhu práce pro tuto práci je minimální mzda. Věnujeme se jejím ekonomickým a mimoekonomickým funkcím a důsledkům, dále její funkčnosti a výši, a to jak z pohledu světového, evropského, tak hlavně z pohledu České republiky. Navíc se práce věnuje také alternativními názory na minimální mzdu. Praktický přínos této práce spočívá v analýze dopadu konceptu minimální mzdy na podniky v soukromém sektoru, a to napříč velikostmi, obory podnikání či regiony, ale i v dopadu na veřejný sektor.

Abstract:

This work provides a theoretical outline of the functioning of the labor market in general, and deals mainly with tools of regulation of this market, which affects its efficient operation. As crucial instrument of regulation in the labor market for this work is the minimum wage. We devote to the economic and non-economic functions and consequences, as well as its functionality and amounts, in terms of world´s, European, and especially from the Czech Republic´s perspective. In addition, this work also looks at alternative views on the minimum wage. Practical contribution to this work is to analyze the impact of the concept of a minimum wage on companies in the private sector, across sizes, field of business or regions, but also the influence on the public sector.
