I Am Just Pole Dancing

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem Prostě tančím na tyči se zabývá fenoménem pole dance. Tato sportovně-taneční disciplína se v poslední době stává čím dál více oblíbenou, avšak stále se s ní pojí několik stereotypních představ, které ji spojují se striptýzovou kulturou. Práce pomocí zúčastněného pozorování a rozhovorů přibližuje každodennost tréninků, náročnost, estetickou perspektivu a práci s tělem. Na pole dance je v tomto textu nahlíženo ze dvou perspektiv, a to z taneční a sportovní. Tyto perspektivy se opírají zejména o diskurzy antropologie sportu a antropologie těla. Výzkumné otázky si kladou za cíl zodpovědět, jaký význam má pole dance pro tanečnice, které aspekty definují pole dance jako sportovní disciplínu a jak se odlišuje tanec u tyče od erotizujících aspektů. V práci jsou přiblíženy i různé kategorie pole dance včetně oficiálních národních soutěží a jejich specifik. Součástí bakalářské práce je audiovizuální výstup.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis I Am Just Pole Dancing aims at the phenomenon of pole dance. This sport-dance discipline has recently become more popular but there are still several stereotypes that associate this discipline with strip culture. Through participant observation and interviews, the thesis presents the everyday nature of training, the demands, the aesthetic perspective, and the body work. In this work, pole dance is viewed from two perspectives, specifically dance and sport. These perspectives are mainly based on the discourses of anthropology of sport and anthropology of the body. The research questions aim at answering the significance of pole dance for female dancers, which aspects define pole dance as a sporting discipline, and how pole dancing differs from eroticizing aspects. The thesis also introduces the different categories of pole dance including the official national competitions and their specifics. An audiovisual footage is included in this bachelor thesis.
