Decline and Dieback of Grapevine (ESCA) and Protective Measures

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje problematice chřadnutí a odumírání révy vinné se zaměřením na onemocnění esca. V současné době tento syndrom (společně s dalšími chorobami komplexu chorob kmínku révy vinné) představuje hlavní příčinu odumírání révy ve vinohradnických oblastech celého světa. Onemocnění vyvolávají houby kolonizující cévní svazky xylému. Jedná se o Phaeomoniella chlamydospora a Phaeoacremonium minimum. Současně s těmito dvěma patogeny může být v rostlině přítomna i Fomitiporia mediterranea, která je zodpovědná za bílé tlení dřeva. Práce zahrnuje popis příznaků na jednotlivých částech rostliny, etiologii patogenů i epidemiologii choroby. Dále nastiňuje preventivní a kurativní opatření jak v rámci rozmnožovacího procesu v révových školkách, tak v produkčních vinicích. Závěrečná část práce popisuje monitoring této choroby, který byl zahájen v roce 2020 ve vinici Ústředního kontrolního a zkušebního ústavu zemědělského, a který bude probíhat v následujících letech s cílem zdokumentovat dynamiku vývoje choroby. Současně byl založen pokus, ve kterém bude ověřována účinnost vybraných, komerčně vyráběných přípravků proti šíření onemocnění esca.

Abstract:

This work deals with the issue of decline and dieback of grapevine with a focus on esca syndrome. This disease (along with other diseases from the complex grapevine trunk disease, GTD) is currently the major cause of grapevine dying in wine growing regions worldwide. Trunk disease infections are caused by xylem-colonizing pathogens which include Phaeomoniella chlamydospora a Phaeoacremonium minimum. It may be present in the plant at the same time also Fomitiporia mediterranea, which is responsible for white rot. The work includes the description of symptoms in individual parts of the plant, the aetiology of pathogens and the epidemiology of the disease. It also outlines preventive and curative measures both in the reproduction process in nursery and in vineyards. The final part of the work describes the monitoring of this disease, which was started in the vineyards of Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture in 2020 and which will continue in the coming years in order to document the dynamics of the disease developement. At the same time, an experiment was set up to verify the effectiveness of selected commercially produced products against the spread of esca disease.
