Evaluation of policy assumptions and the reality regarding to implementation of tools for harmonization of family and work life in the border areas of the Pilsen region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na harmonizaci rodinného a pracovního života v příhraničních oblastech České republiky. Cílem práce je zhodnocení realizace opatření pro soulad rodinného a pracovního života v příhraničních oblastech Plzeňského kraje. Teoretická část se věnuje přínosům a překážkám harmonizace, teoretickým východiskům, ale i harmonizaci v evropském kontextu a v tuzemsku. V praktické části je řešena problematika slaďování rodinného a profesního života v okresech Domažlice a Klatovy. V rámci výzkumu bylo provedeno dotazníkové šetření mezi rodiči dětí předškolního věku ve 12 obcích, které byly do výzkumu zařazeny podle velikostních skupin, aby bylo možné ověřit, zda existuje závislost harmonizace na velikosti sídla v těchto okresech. Výsledky byly následně doplněny o rozhovory s pracovníky Úřadu práce v Domažlicích a v Klatovech. Na základě získaných poznatků bylo zjištěno, že rozsah používaných nástrojů na podporu slaďování rodinného a pracovního života je omezený v závislosti na velikosti obce.

Abstract:

The topic of interest of this diploma thesis is the issue of harmonisation of work and family lives in the peripheral regions of the Czech Republic. The primary objective of this thesis is a critical evaluation of the accessible measures for the improvement of harmonisation of work and family lives in the peripheries of the Pilsen region. The thesis is divided into two parts. First part examines the theoretical concept of harmonisation, its benefits, challenges and potential outcomes in the context of both Europe and Czech Republic specifically. Second part consists of a research of specific harmonisation measures implemented in the districts of Domažlice and Klatovy. As part of the research a survey was conducted on the population of parents of pre-school children. The surveyed sample covers 12 different towns, which were selected based on their size to check for possible correlation between the degree of harmonization and the town’s size. To ensure greater robustness of the research, this data was subsequently supplemented with qualitative interviews with the employees of Bureau of labour of Domažlice and Klatovy. The thesis then concludes that the variety of accessible measures for the improvement of harmonisation of work and family lives depends on the size of the town in question.
