Christian Democratic Party in the German-speaking countries - in the context of models of political partisanship

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje křesťanskodemokratickým stranám v německy mluvících zemích, v kontextu modelů politického stranictví. Práce se konkrétně zaměřuje na Křesťansko-demokratickou unii Německa (CDU), Rakouskou lidovou stranu (ÖVP) a Švýcarskou křesťansko-demokratickou lidovou stranu (CVP) od poválečných let (od poloviny 20. století) do současnosti. Politické strany se vyznačují specifickými rysy, které můžeme pozorovat v kontextu každé země v rámci politického stranictví, z čehož vycházela potřeba vytvářet různé typologie o politických stranách pro jejich snadnější zařazení. Hlavním cílem práce je popis ideově programového profilu výše uvedených politických stran za použití konceptu stranických rodin podle typologie Klause von Beymeho (při vytváření své klasifikace stranických rodin zohlednil historický vývoj a ideovou orientaci politických stran), který je následně doplněn o teoretický rámec vnitřního uspořádání politických stran. Následně je cíl doplněn o přiblížení pozic křesťanskodemokratických stran ve stranických systémech jednotlivých německy mluvících zemí a možného profilu voličstva v průběhu vymezeného období za pomoci využití volebních výsledků na celostátní úrovni Německa, Rakouska a Švýcarska v komparativní perspektivě.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted the Christian Democratic parties in the German-speaking countries, in the context of models of political partisanship. Specifically focuses on the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the Swiss Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP) from the post-war years (since the middle of 20th century) to the present. Political parties are characterized by specific features that can be seen in the context of each country within the political party system, which was based on the need to create different typologies of political parties for their inclusion easier. The main goal is to describe the ideological profile of the program above political parties, using the concept of political families by typology created by Klaus von Beyme which is then supplemented by a theoretical framework for the internal organization of political parties. Subsequently, the target is complemented by the Christian Democratic parties, zoom positions in the party systems of the individual German-speaking countries and potential profile of the electorate for a limited period through the use of election results at the national level in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in comparative perspective.
