Information for seniors to prevent their victimization

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou seniorů jako potenciálních i reálných obětí trestných činů a jejich informovanosti při předcházení páchání trestné činnosti právě na starších občanech. Kompilační část práce se opírá o dřívější i současné poznatky odborníků z řad pedagogů, viktimologů a pracovníků pomáhajících organizací. Je zdůrazněna potřeba vzdělávání seniorů pomocí pedagogického působení a dalších forem servisu informací. Práce vychází jak z teoretických, tak i praktických vědomostí a zkušeností, které byly získány během dlouholetého působení v oblasti prevence kriminality. V empirické části práce je prezentován výzkum, který byl realizován s vybranými respondenty za využití kvalitativních metod. Design výzkumu byl pojat formou zakotvené teorie, jejíž principy jsou ve výzkumu využity. Jako metoda sběru dat jsou zvoleny polostrukturované rozhovory se dvěma skupinami informantů, kteří byli záměrně rozděleni na ty, jež se účastnili preventivních aktivit pořádaných Městskou policií Ostrava, a na ty, kteří policisty poučeni nebyli a informace o prevenci kriminality získávají z jiných zdrojů. Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, zda jsou senioři dostatečně informováni o možnostech prevence kriminality. Záměrem je hlubší vhled do zkušeností a názorů jednotlivců dvou skupin na prevenci kriminality a jejich následné srovnání.

Abstract:

The thesis is concerned with the senior citizens as potential victims of crimes and the in awareness of crime preventiv programmes for elderly people. The compilation part of the thesis deals with the former and contemporary knowledge of experts in pedagogy, victimology and assistance organizations. The emphasis is put on prevention education programmes providing pedagogic assistance and other forms of information service. The thesis is based on both theoretical and practical knowledge and experience gained through long-time involvement in the area of crime prevention. The empirical part of the study presents the research conducted with chosen respondents with use of qualitative methods. Research design has a form of grounded theory, whose principles are applied in the research. Semi-structured interview with two groups of informants are used as a data collection method. The informants are dividend into those who participated in preventiv activities organized by City Police of Ostrava and into those who were not instructed by the police workers and whoused other sources to gain information on crime prevention. The aim of this thesis is to find out if senior citizens are adequately informed about the possibilities of crime prevention. The intentionis to provide deeper in sight into the experience and views of individual members of two groups on crime prevention and then to compare the results.
