Taxation of negative externalities using corrective taxes

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá negativními externalitami spojenými se spotřebou cigaret. Cílem práce je popsat systém nápravných daní u spotřeby cigaret, identifikovat typy negativních externalit spojených s jejich spotřebou a analyzovat významnost spotřební daně vzhledem ke spotřebě cigaret. Teoretická část definuje a identifikuje negativní externality spojené s kouřením. Praktická část se zabývá vývojem spotřeby cigaret, spotřební daně a konstrukčních prvků daně. Následuje analýza závislosti proměnných s využitím modelů vícenásobné a stepwise regrese, kdy modely splnily základní statistické předpoklady. Analyzovány byly roky 2010 a 2018. Poslední část práce se zabývá provedeným dotazníkovým šetřením, které zkoumá chování spotřebitelů cigaret a vnímání negativních externalit spojených s kouřením cigaret.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the negative externalities associated with cigarette consumption. The aim of the work is to describe the system of corrective taxes for cigarette consumption, to identify the types of negative externalities associated with their consumption and to analyze the importance of consumption tax in relation to cigarette consumption. The theoretical part defines and identifies negative externalities associated with smoking. The analytical part deals with the development of cigarette consumption, consumption tax and structural elements of the tax. The following is an analysis of the dependence of variables using multiple and stepwise regression models, when the models met the basic statistical assumptions. The years 2010 and 2018 were analyzed. The last part of the work deals with a questionnaire survey that examines the behavior of cigarette consumers and the perception of negative externalities associated with cigarette smoking.
