Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with English popular-scientific and scientific texts with medical focus. The first part offers a theoretical overview of what academic and popular-scientific discourses are. The second part of this thesis deals with selected issues of the texts through a genre analysis such as the language devices, the rhetorical macrostructure of the texts, and the lexical level covered mainly by terminology. The analysis has two main levels, the ?moves? and the ?steps?. The corpus totals twelve texts, five popular-scientific and seven scientific. The main aim of the thesis was genre analysis of moves and steps of the particular articles, and subsequently to analyze the extent of occurrence of original Latin terminology with no explanation in scientific and popular-scientific texts.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá anglickými populárně-naučnými a odbornými texty s lékařským zaměřením. První část poskytuje teoretický přehled o tom, co je odborný a populárně-naučný styl. Druhá část se prostřednictvím žánrové analýzy zabývá typickými rysy textů, jako jsou jazykové prostředky, rétorická makrostruktura těchto textů, popř. lexikální rovina realizovaná zejména terminologickou vrstvou. Analýza je rozdělena do dvou hlavních úrovní, ?moves? a ?steps?. Korpus využitý pro tuto práci zahrnuje dvanáct textů: pět populárně-naučných a sedm odborných. Cílem práce byla žánrová analýza moves a steps jednotlivých textů, následně také analýza míry výskytu latinské terminologie bez dalšího vysvětlení v odborných a populárně-naučných textech.
